European Commission is verifying whether to take action against Sliema and Gzira Pollution, Alternattiva Demokratika said.
In a reply to a European parliamentary question by the European Greens on pollution in Sliema and Gzira, the European Commission said that it is verifying whether to take infringement procedures against the Maltese Government on PM10 pollution.
This is due to the fact that Malta has not yet submitted required documentation to the European Commission on this issue.
In a joint statement, AD Chairperson Arnold Cassola and former Sliema Local Councillor Michael Briguglio said that both MEPA and ADT have been dragging their feet for too long on the issue, resulting in excessive traffic pollution in streets such as Manwel Dimech Street, Rue D'Argens and Mrabat Street, to the detriment of people's health.
