The Rabat square project is expected to generate more work and thus more investment, Labour Leader Joseph Muscat said during a visit to Rabat.
Dr Muscat said the work was finished within the stipulated time frame as well as within the budget established in the proposed project. “On this project, no money was wasted,” Muscat said.
The Labour leader said that the Rabat local council, which enjoys a Labour majority, is centered around its people and on bureaucracy.
The Rabat square project is a gift to the citizens of Rabat, Mayor Sandro Craus said during the visit.
The project consisted of different phases, which were carried out after consultations with the residents and restaurants owners. During the second phase of the project, which consisted of underground excavations, historical monuments were retrieved. This phase was carried out with the utmost concern for these remains, Mr Craus insisted. The pavement complimentes the baroque features of the Rabat Parish Church, Mr Craus added.
Present for this activity there was Stefan Bountempo, PL spokesperson for the Local Council, as well as the local council Rabat candidates.
